The popular social media platform TikTok is under legal fire in multiple states across the US. Following policy-based legal responses from South Dakota and Maryland, Indiana is suing TikTok and its parent company ByteDance on the grounds of exposing children to inappropriate content and misleading users as to the privacy of the personal data collected by the social media platform. Much of the hostility toward the platform stems from the concern related to the CCP’s access to the user data of Chinese-based companies.
