Google has released experimental software that can integrate AI with users’ TXT and PDF files uploaded to their Google Drives. NotebookLM can answer questions about the documents and even create a podcast with two AI hosts discussing the uploaded sources. This feature may seem like a novelty at the moment, but it highlights the incredible advancements occurring in the AI-sphere.
Organizations can take advantage of these advancements by acquiring tools to better help understand complex documents, like vendor contracts and IT policies. These tools may also be able to break down complex cybersecurity and privacy topics and explain them in layman’s terms. This will make these topics more accessible to a larger group of individuals, increasing awareness within an organization.
There are some inherent risks to this concept. One of which is how the AI system stores and handles information. If organizations input confidential data into the system, will its data be protected? Another risk to this concept is how accurate the system’s outputs are. If an organization becomes overreliant on the system and outputs incorrect or incomplete information, how can that affect the organization?
If sufficient controls are applied for the use of these tools to mitigate the risk inherent in their use, the tools can lead to a massive increase in the efficiency, safety, and security of the organization.
